Swinton and District Excelsior Band

Officers

President - Christopher Tetley

Our president is the second generation of his family to hold this office, having taken over from his father.

Nigel

Musical Director - Nigel

After a lifetime of playing, Nigel has finally succumbed to the urge for power and taken up conducting!  After taking the band to two contests he  found us irresistible and has taken up the challenge as our first M.D.!

Chairman - Jane

One of the original group of girl learners in 1968, Jane has played flugel for us for most of the intervening years. As well as playing, she is a great fund-raiser and was made a life member in 2006.

Secretary - Dorothy

The lynch-pin of the band, "Mummy Band" tries to keep us all in order, a task in which she is amazingly successful (for most of the time!) She has recently been made a Life Member of the band.

Treasurer - Anna

Our Bass Trombonist is one of the growing number of band members who came to brass playing for the first time as adults.

Anna
Steve

Deputy Bandmaster - Steve

Our principal Bass has played in Brass Bands for most of his life, and has recently been made a Life Member. As well as playing Bass drum when we march, he organises much of the band's social and drinking life, and plays anything from baritone down.

Vice Chairman - Ian

Ian, who plays E flat Bass, is another band member coerced into the band by his children and the learners group! He represents what is currently the largest family group in the band.

Learners' Co-ordinator - Tracey

Tracey has long been a key member of the cornet team and brings a great  deal of experience to running the Learners group.  If she can keep Steve organised, there is hope for the learners!
