Swinton Post
Volume 2, Issue 6                                                                              June 2004

It's the end of the month again and I find myself in front of the computer. It is also that time of the year when lots of people have exams. So to those of you who have exams coming up, Good Luck! (from my experience band is a better anti-revision tactic than doing the washing up or tidying your room!)

Man in the middle

As most of you will have gathered by now, Robin decided that his work and family commitments were too much and he regretfully resigned from the band at the start of the month. This means that we are currently looking for a new bandmaster.

However in the mean time Steve and Stewart Thorp have stepped into the breach and between them are going to try and cover all rehearsals and jobs. During this time, I'm sure they would both be grateful if you could give them your support and make the effort to attend as many rehearsals and engagements as you can. We are very grateful to the pair of them for giving up their time in order to help. We should also thank Stewart W for his support during rehearsals which neither Steve nor Stewart T can make.

Welcome!

We would like to welcome a new family to the  band. William and Josephine's mum and dad have been fully inducted into the learners band! Rachel has been persuaded to take a trombone home and Ian has taken an Eb bass. We also welcome Josephine into the main band on 2nd Horn!

We need your help!

The band garden fete has been arranged for the 14th August and Fran and Peter Leadill have very generously offered the band the use of their garden once again. However we are still looking for somebody to organise this event. Anybody who would like to organise or help in anyway with the garden should contact Dorothy as soon as possible. This is an important event for fundraising so any help and ideas will be gratefully received.

Band Dinner CD

Thank you to Catherine who has put together a CD of everybody's photos from the band dinner. These are now available to buy from Dorothy for £3 in aid of band funds.
