Swinton Post
Volume 2, Issue 2                                                                              February 2004

Is it possible – have I got a newsletter out on time??

Just a single side this month I’m afraid, there isn’t much news at this time of year!

Birthdays – ha ha, there is no escape from standing on your chair!

  9th Feb        Heathers 18th!

10th Feb        Maggie

12th Feb        Catherine
(the big *0 – I’m not allowed to say which!)
17th Feb       Ed

The usual applies – If I have missed anyone
I apologise and I hope you all have a very Happy Birthday

*Attention all learners*

Learners will be cancelled on February 28th as the main band has a concert in Pickering, which you are all welcome to attend. It will be featuring not only Swinton Band, but also Adam Rutter (Robin’s son, an excellent euphonium player).

Congratulations Steve!

Congratulations go to Steve for passing his final exams in his Open University degree. He has been studying for several years and all the hard work and effort he put in has paid off. Well Done!

Band Dinner

Does everyone have an order form for the band dinner? If not go and see Dorothy as she still has some left. When you have decided what you want to eat, make sure you let Steve or Dorothy have your form back with your money. Remember family and friends are all very welcome. The more the merrier!

Reminder

Just a quick reminder that valve oil can be bought from the band room for just £2.50 a bottle!

Well Done!

A big well done goes to Sarah who has now passed all 12 assignments with flying colours. She is however continuing to play principal cornet for the learners band which is much appreciated by all.

TIP OF THE MONTH......

When practising Vizcaya (or anything else come to that!), don’t waste time “practising” the bits you can play, practice the bits you can’t play – don’t avoid them. If you do have any problems, don’t be afraid to ask for help (only a few members of band have been known to bite in the past!)
